Attaining the ideal VPD (Vapor Pressure Deficit) for plants is crucial to ensure proper transpiration, nutrient uptake, CO2 absorption, and stress prevention. VPD, which stands for Vapor Pressure Deficit, directly relates to the temperature and humidity within an environment. Traditional cloning techniques involve using separate domes for each group of clones, essentially creating a microclimate that maintains higher humidity levels within the dome (lower VPD) to foster root development. This approach works effectively as long as consistent air exchange and environmental conditions are maintained. The VPDome offers a solution to sustain the optimal VPD throughout the cloning process, simplifying large-scale cloning by reducing the labor needed for daily dome ventilation.

Creating the Optimal Setting

Prior to implementing the VPDome, it's essential to establish an environment conducive to clone growth post-hardening off. The room's conditions should be controlled to maintain a temperature range of 70-80°F (21-26°C) and room humidity levels between 65-75%. This setup aims to achieve a VPD of approximately 0.8-1.0 kPa. As a recommended practice, treat the VPDome with a sanitizing agent like Athena Reset at a ratio of 1 oz per gallon (8 mL per L) before each cycle of clones for optimal results.

Grow tents are a great way to manage your indoor grow setup. Indoor plants can be subject to all kinds of threats, which can be managed through the use of these specialist grow tents which can help provide a controlled environment for your crops. Tents from brands like Budbox and Bloomroom provide an ideal environment for plants during all stages of growth, and can even help extend the outdoor growing season by allowing you to maintain plants for longer in a controlled environment.

Maintaining the correct humidity levels is an essential part of hydroponic plant growth. High humidity levels can lead to mold, mildew, and other fungal growth, while low humidity levels can cause plants to dry out and become stressed. The optimal humidity level for hydroponic plants is between 50% and 70%.

One way to regulate humidity levels in a hydroponic grow room is by using a dehumidifier. A dehumidifier removes excess moisture from the air, reducing the risk of mold and mildew growth. Dehumidifiers are available in various sizes and styles and can be either portable or wall-mounted. They work by drawing in moist air and cooling it to condense the moisture, which is then collected in a water reservoir.

Another method of regulating humidity levels in hydroponic grow rooms is by using a humidifier. A humidifier increases the moisture content in the air, which can be beneficial in dry climates or during winter months when indoor heating systems can cause the air to become too dry. Humidifiers are available in various sizes and styles and can be either portable or wall-mounted.

In addition to using a dehumidifier or humidifier, there are other ways to regulate humidity levels in a hydroponic grow room. One method is to increase air circulation by using fans or ventilation systems. This can help to prevent stagnant air pockets, which can lead to high humidity levels. Another method is to use absorbent materials such as silica gel or activated carbon to absorb excess moisture in the air.

It is important to monitor humidity levels regularly and adjust humidity regulation systems as needed to maintain optimal conditions for plant growth. A hygrometer can be used to measure the relative humidity in the grow room, and growers can adjust the dehumidifier or humidifier as needed to maintain the desired humidity levels.

It is important to receive the correct amounts of nutrients for your plants. Each nutrient has different functions, e.g. nitrogen is needed for stem growth and leaf production, while phosphorus is essential for root health. Plants need all three major plant nutrients - nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus - in order to grow at their best. Using high-quality plant nutrients will help you achieve unrivalled harvests..

Rockwool is a popular hydroponic growing medium made from spun basalt rock fibers. It is commonly used to start seeds or root cuttings and provides a sterile, pH-neutral and porous environment for roots to grow. Rockwool cubes are pre-soaked in pH-balanced water and can be placed into net pots or trays for plants to grow in. It is important to properly prepare and handle rockwool to prevent any potential health hazards associated with the fibers. Proper disposal of used rockwool is also important to prevent environmental contamination.

Grow tents are specialized enclosures designed for indoor gardening and hydroponic growing. These tents are typically made of a durable, lightproof fabric that reflects light back onto the plants and helps to keep the temperature and humidity levels consistent. Grow tents are available in a variety of sizes and configurations to suit the needs of different growers, and they are easy to set up and take down. Many grow tents come with built-in ventilation ports, access points for electrical cords, and hanging bars for lights and other equipment. They are also designed to be easily portable, making them a great option for growers who want to move their plants or set up a temporary growing space. Grow tents provide a controlled environment for indoor growing, helping to protect plants from pests, temperature fluctuations, and other environmental factors that can affect their growth and health.
