The Essentials CO₂ Monitor utilizes a Non-Dispersive Infrared (NDIR) spectroscopic sensor to detect CO₂ levels, making it a user-friendly indoor air quality monitor. Its large display screen showcases real-time CO₂ levels, ambient temperature, relative humidity, a clock, and a bar-chart indicating changes in CO₂ levels over the last 24 hours. The monitor offers three backlight options, green for normal CO₂ levels, amber for raised CO₂ levels, and red for high CO₂ levels. Additionally, it includes a programmable audible alarm that can be set to alert users when the CO₂ level reaches a specific threshold.

Users have the option to switch off the backlight or set it to automatically dim between 22:00 pm and 06:00 am. The backlight color can be customized from seven options to blend in with the surroundings. The monitor is powered through a USB lead, either from a mains power adaptor (included) or a PC or USB Power Bank.
